Dare

Dare is a program that teaches students not to do drugs like alcohol, tobacco, cigarettes, and marijuana. They want to teach us that these drugs can lead to cancer or sometimes death. I think Deputy Thomas is doing a great job of teaching us not to do drugs.

I am glad that we had Dare this year. It was cool when Deputy Thomas showed us Mr. Dip Lip and Smoking Susie and Those glasses that made me look drunk.

I think Dare was a lot of fun this year. I learned a lot from it like if I did drugs I would do bad in school and in sports so I’m not going to take drugs.

When I was wearing those glass that made my eye see like a drunk person I don’t want to see like that again because it is hard to walk and do anything. Mr. Dip Lip showed me that if I did tobacco I would have nasty teeth and breath. I want good teeth and breath. Smoking Susie was in bad shape with her lungs because she had tar in her lung from smoking. The tar can get stuck in your lungs when you smoke and you can get cancer or even die. I don’t want cancer or I don’t want to die.

It was fun when we were wearing the Dare t-shirts because all the kid got to see the Dare shirts. The kids that see us wearing them will hopefully stay away from drugs.

I want to be successful in school and in sports. I want to wrestle in High school and maybe collage too. But if I want to wrestle I have to do good in school. If I did take drugs I would not be able to do the stuff I want to do in life.

There is 7% of 8Th grader that smoke and 15% that drink alcohol. I don’t want to be an 8Th grader that smokes or drinks alcohol.

One reason people smoke is because it is an addiction because it has nicotine in it. Smoking can give you cancer. Tobacco has more than 200 known poisons. 400,000 people die each year from tobacco.

One of the worst drugs to use is Marijuana because it has more tar than tobacco and is stronger than tobacco too. Marijuana is illegal in the United States.

There are a lot of ways to say no to these drugs like stay away from places that uses drugs. Another one is you can say no and walk away. If  you are with a friend and someone ask you what to have some alcohol and you both say no because it is easier to say no when you are with a friend.

I am going to be drug free.

Thank you Deputy Thomas for teaching us Dare this year it was a lot of fun.

Being Successful In Sixth Grade

This is an assignment from the http://www.thereadingworkshop.com/.

What has made me successful in sixth grade is I did what I was told I got all my work done and I used strategies that would help me.  I work hard in school and out of school. I have GREAT teachers at school.

This is my favorite year in school because we got to create a blog and we always write post on it. In Math I have learn a lot of stuff and I use that math stuff a lot.

In Mr. McGuire’s Class on the first day when he said we had to read 180 min a week and I was like this is gonna be really hard to do. But after a few weeks it became really easy and now I read a lot more i school and out of school. Now I can also read harder books.

In Ms. Bowlby class on the first day we did a lot of work and she said it was only going to get harder. I was like math is going to be hard but it bcame easier as the year went on.

My Advise For The Test Is

This is an assignment from the Reading Workshop

My advise that I would give to other six grader is take your time go back and read because we have two in a half hours to do the test and if you don’t take your time you will most likely miss more question. If you don’t understand something read with virtual headphones because sometimes you will understand it better. When you get done check to see if you have every question answered. If you do go back and read every question and see if you still like your first answered if not read it one more time decide which one sounds better. Between each passage take a one minute break and then go to the next passage because it will clear your mind and get you ready for the next one.

I hope every one does a good job on the test and use what is best for you on the test.

The Big Test

We are getting ready to take a test. THE BIG OAA TEST! It is not always hard but most of the time it is hard. It is always the longest test of the year. there are about 45 or more question. I don’t like to take the OAA test because it is so long and hard. But I am glad when it is over because in class we don’t do so much work. It is just around the corner. I hope I do good on THE BIG TEST!

The OAA Test

This is an assignment from the Reading Workshop.

The Reading OAA test was a little hard to me.But some of the questions were easy to me. When I had trouble with a question I would

go back into the passage and I found the answer to the question.  I think the first passage was the hardest passage in the test. I would also underline something important too. When I went back into the passage it made the test a lot easier.  When I was done with the test I was thinking that it wasn’t to hard.
